Robert Joseph Goyette, 93, passed away on June 19, 2017. Robert is survived by his spouse, LaVerne, children: Richard (Dorothy); Diane (Terence) Connelly ; Patricia (Richard) Gill and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Robert graduated from Crane Technical High School of Chicago. Robert served his country during World War II in the Army 2nd Engineer Special Brigade. Robert participated in D-Day Army Landings at Hollandia Dutch New Guinea and Leyte, Phillipines. After the war, Robert returned to Cicero where he met his future wife LaVerne , a receptionist at a doctor’s office. His famous line, after she made his next appointment, was “and how about your appointment book?” The rest is history. Robert and Laverne were married for 67 years. Robert lived in Lyons for 65 years. He was active in the Lyons community during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Robert was the Costello Cub Scout Leader, member of St. Hugh Holy Name Society, Commander of Emil Scheive American Legion Post #699 and a two term Lyons Village Trustee. After his retirement from BN Transport as a truck driver, Robert enjoyed working on his model railroad, reading the Tribune from cover to cover (including the crossword puzzle), woodworking and walking his beloved dog.
