William Wenk

William “Bill” Wenk passed away on April 11, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of family, experiences, and connections with those who knew him.  Known simply as “Bill” to family and friends, he will be remembered for his outgoing personality, outspoken nature, and his ability to make an impression wherever he went. He never hesitated to speak his mind, share a story, or strike up a conversation. Bill had a special love for cats, which brought him companionship throughout his life. He also loved dancing, and he enjoyed tinkering with computers- always curious and hands-on when it came to technology. Bill was a fan of science fiction, often drawn to imaginative stories that sparked his curiosity. He often said that books were the “most valuable thing in the house”, reflecting his appreciation for learning, stories, and knowledge.

Bill worked for a security company and also gave back to his community as a volunteer on the Lyons Police Pension Board.  He was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Elizabeth, son Paul, brother Bob, sister Patty, and lifelong partner Donna Schroeppel.  Bill is survived by his sons, Clint (Dana) and Peter (Serena); his brother, Dick (Ellyn); and his grandchildren, Mallory, Hadley, Shelby, Josiah, and Amelia.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, the memories shared with him will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.   

Memorial will be private.
