Kenneth K. Getty of Lyons, Beloved Community Leader, Passes Away at 83

LYONS, IL (Jan. 27, 2025) — Kenneth K. Getty, the 25th Mayor of the Village of Lyons and founder of Getty Insurance Agency, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2025, at his home in Lyons, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family. Ken is survived by his cherished wife, Anna of 44 years; his children Kenneth T., Christopher, and Katie; his four grandchildren; and his sister, Elizabeth Nelson. A pillar of the Lyons community, Ken was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose life was marked by achievement and service. As an accomplished entrepreneur, a dedicated public servant, and a passionate volunteer, Ken poured his heart into bettering the Village of Lyons and the lives of its residents. Known for his generous spirit, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality, Ken touched countless lives with his compassion and leadership. All who had the privilege of knowing him will cherish his memory and feel his absence.

Memorial Services

Visitation: Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, service at 7:00 PM, at Tower Home for Funerals, 4007 Joliet Ave., Lyons, IL 60534.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, February 5, 2025, 11:00 AM at St. John's United Church of Christ, 4500 Prescott Ave., Lyons, IL 60534.

Interment: Mount Auburn Cemetery, Stickney, IL, immediately following the funeral service.
