John B Farneda

It is with great sadness that the family of John B. Farneda of Riverside, IL, announces his passing on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the age of 59 years old.  John was born on Thursday, October 5, 1961 in Berwyn, IL. His parents were Lino B. Farneda and Rose (Pedon) Farneda. He is survived by his spouse Stephanus Greeff (Fanie), his mother, Rose and his brother, Lorenzo Farneda (Larry).

John’s passion for “The Rolling Stones” propelled him to progress his initial role as intern to an award-winning Music Director for 93.1 WXRT, Chicago.  His contributions in that role were life changing for thousands of listeners and John was considered to be the heart and soul of XRT. John served as the architect for some of the most legendary moments and memories for XRT loyalists. A life-long resident of Chicago, John was proud to help shape the musical landscape of the city and to share his passion and vision with thousands of listeners every day.

John saw beauty in a Frank Lloyd Wright house, which he and Fanie renovated back to its glory. John and Fanie were members of Frederick Law Olmsted Society and Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. John spent much of his time gardening and enjoying the splendor of his surroundings.

A memorial service is being planned for later the year. Details will be shared.
