James T. Marshall, 65, cousin and friend to non-profit organizations helping the homeless with meals, clothing and fellowship in Chicago, IL. passed away on Wednesday July 22, 2026 at the Waterford Care Center in Rogers Park, Chicago, IL. He was born on March 23,1961 in Fairlea, WV to the late Dr. James Franklin Marshall and Marilyn Barkley Marshall.
James in his younger years enjoyed attending the WV State Fair in his hometown. He was an avid league bowler and bowled many 300 score games. He also enjoyed video arcade games and X-Men comics. James attended VA Tech where he earned a Masters Degree in mathematics and statistics. This led to a job at an arsenal in VA (originally the Hercules Powder Co.). James was very religious and enjoyed listening to the "Unshackled Radio Ministry" broadcast from Pacific Garden Mission (Chicago) while living in WV. He moved to Chicago to become a volunteer at the Mission. In later life he found friendship and fellowship at Mt. Olive Church, the home of Timothy's Ministries that serves the homeless. His family is grateful for Thresholds Mental Health counselors and Mercy Housing stafff who provided wellness checks on James as his physical and mental health was failing.
Surviving are his cousins Bob Marshall of Camp Hill, PA and their families. In addition to his parents, James was preceeded in death by his sister Joanne Marshall.
