George W. Stercay

George W. Stercay, 89, of Lyons, formerly of Melrose Park. George was born in Lyons, IL on March 2, 1927.  George served in World War ll as an MP in Germany and France. He worked for International Harvester as a machinist and was so proud of the fact that he had been retired longer then he had worked.  He was very passionate about fishing and gardening. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary M, loving father of Michael (Mary Kay) Stercay, Joyce (Stephen) Sarley, Gary (Jill) Stercay, Karen (Peter) Dolder, George T. (Sherri) Stercay, and Paul Stercay; grandfather of Michelle, Stephen, Matthew, Andrea, Daniel, Bethany, Nicholas, Mark, Sarah, John, Christopher, Lauren, Alysa, Kyle, Taylor, Samantha, and Savannah; and great-grandfather of Annalise, Caleigha, Zoe, Charlotte and Jackson. Visitation on Sunday, December 18, 2016 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Tower Home for Funerals, Lyons. Chapel prayers, Monday, December 19, will begin at 9:30 at Tower Home for Funerals, and proceed to St. Hugh Catholic Church (7939 West 43^rd Street, Lyons) for a mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside IL.
