Evelyn Gard passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020. She was born to Swedish immigrants, Wahlberg and Ernest, in Chicago. Evelyn was raised in Chicago, married John Gard in 1963 and settled in Lyons in 1964. Evelyn lived in Lyons until 2019 and throughout her years remained active in many clubs, organizations and activities. She was a longtime member of the Tall Girls Club (Chicago Chapter), an active member/officer of the Mother’s/Women’s club of Lyons, an officer of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, a girl scout leader, longtime member of Forest Lanes and Berwyn Bowl Women’s League, Women’s Club of Berwyn United Lutheran Church and choir member of Berwyn United Lutheran Church/Unity Luther Church of Berwyn. She and her girlfriends started a once a month poker night tradition that has continued for over 50 years. Evelyn worked as an x-ray technician at St. Elizabeth’s hospital in Chicago from the mid 1950’s until 1963. She later worked in the lunchroom at Robinson Elementary School for many years.
Evelyn enjoyed singing (particularly in the church choir) reading, watching the Chicago Cubs and Jeopardy and collecting stamps. She was an avid letter writer and had many friendships near and far. She had a great sense of humor and had the ability to make anyone laugh.
She is survived by her three daughters and eight grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Masks are required in the funeral home.
The lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
for Thou art with me; Thy rod and
Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
