Charles Gorecki Obituary

Charlie Gorecki, of Lyons, Illinois, was a hardworking husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend who built his life around family, friendship, and taking care of those he loved. Raised by an uncle who played an instrumental role in his life, Charlie learned early that family was not always defined by blood, but by the people who showed up and stood beside you. A lifelong resident of Lyons, he formed friendships that became family and connections that lasted generations. Known for his wild side in his younger years, Charlie found his greatest adventure when he married his beloved wife, Pam. Together, they built a life rooted in love and loyalty. After spending many years behind the wheel of a truck, Charlie took pride in his hard work, providing for his family, and being the steady foundation of his household. Among Charlie's greatest joys were fishing with his son, Chuck, and the friends who shared countless early mornings, stories, laughs, and memories on the water. For Charlie, fishing was never just about the catch, but about the time spent together. He also had a lifelong love for all things with a motor. Whether it had wheels, an engine, or the potential to go a little faster than it probably should, it had his attention. That passion became part of the Gorecki family bloodline, passed down through generations along with his mechanical interests, adventurous spirit, and just enough of his wild side. Charlie welcomed his daughter-in-law, Jennifer, into the family and found a new kind of joy in being a grandfather. He was incredibly proud of his grandson, Gavin, never missing an opportunity to brag about him, while his adorable, spunky granddaughter, Claire, brought another generation of love, laughter, and personality into his world. Charlie was a man who asked for little, worked for everything, and showed his love through his actions. He was organized, dependable, and happiest knowing his family was taken care of. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam; his son, Chuck; his daughter-in-law, Jennifer; and his cherished grandchildren, Gavin and Claire, along with countless friends who became family along the way. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the friendships he cherished, and the generations who will carry his strength, humor, loyalty, and spirit forward. Charlie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered in every fishing story shared, every engine brought to life, and every moment his family comes together.

"God grant that I may live to fish, Until my dying day.  And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord's great landing net And peacefully asleep, That in His mercy I be judged Big enough to keep."
