Robert Albert Zelten Age 59 of Lyons, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Rob was born in Lombard Il.   spent the majority of his life living in Oak Park Illinois and the Last 20 years living in Lyons Illinois.  He is survived by his siblings Diane Jaeger, Michael (Karen) Zelten, Thomas (Jeanne) Zelten, Patricia (Daniel) VanBoxtel, Richard (Michelle) Zelten, Suzanne (David) Mercer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Walter and Jeannine Zelten and Sister, Joanne Zelten. Robert graduated from Oak Park High School in 1980, received  his Associates degree in Automotive Technology in 1983 From Triton College.

Robert worked for 38 years at Dressel’s Hardware Store in Oak Park Illinois and was lovingly referred to as a “Helpful Hardware Man”.  The Dressel family was his second family from day one all the way up to the very end. The Zelten Family greatly appreciates the Dressel Family help, love, and support throughout his career.

Whenever he could, Rob loved to spend his vacation time at the lake cottage he shared with his brother Rick  in Summit Lake, Wisconsin.  Summit Lake was a place he had been going with his family since 1975. He enjoyed Fishing, Hunting, Water Sports, spending time with family and friends around the campfire, as well as other outdoor activities. He was a terrific uncle and GodFather and loved to “raz” everyone.

Arrangements are being handled by Tower Funeral Home in Lyons, Illinois. A private family memorial will be planned at the Cottage in Summit Lake, Wisconsin. He will be deeply missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Summit Lake Association and will be collected and forwarded by his brother Richard Zelten at 2540 W. Heaven View Ln., Oak Creek Wi 53154.

To all my family and friends, “Don’t cry because I’m gone, smile because I was here. And when you feel alone, think about the good times we had.”
